Specialty Subjects

- to engage regularly in acts of charity and concern for others. As such, our students are involved in activities such as visiting the elderly in local nursing homes and raising money for worthy charities through varied student-organized activities.
- Reflecting Providence Hebrew Day School’s emphasis on the development of good character, we have implemented various school-wide Midos programs. For example, Project Derech is a text-based program that focuses on the biblical laws of respect. This program is run every few years, and the skills gained are evident in the behavior and speech of our students towards adults and towards each other. Project Derech is incorporated into the curriculum to teach and review these important halachos (laws) and midos.
- Students in Grades 3 and above participate in The Great Middos Contest, an international writing contest run annually by the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation. We are proud that we have had several students’ work published in a national Jewish newspaper as part of this contest.
