Leadership
Dear Parents,
This week, I would like to focus on the topic of leadership in preparation for the Amudim Dinner to be held on Sunday, June 10. As you are all aware, this year we will bid farewell to a star teacher, Mrs. Dassie Barr, and her family. She and her husband, Dr. Itzi Barr, have had a profound impact on our community in the short time they have lived in Providence. This year’s dinner will pay tribute to Mrs. Maureen Sheehan, as the school will be presenting her with the Amudim Award. For 33 years, Mrs. Sheehan has inspired her students, their parents, her fellow teachers and the graduates from Providence, Sharon and across the United States.

Dear Parents,
I want to personally congratulate Mrs. Weiner and the teachers, who guided the students in preparing a spectacular Yom HaAtzmaut integrated fair. The activities, which were described in the newsletter last week, gave all of our students a special feeling about the kedusha, holiness, of Eretz Yisrael and its uniqueness as the only country that is open to all Jews. Many of our graduates have made aliyah, making Israel their home, and their actions and our teachings inspire our students to have a love and appreciation for Israel, its land and people.

Dear Parents,
I hope that you had an enriching and inspiring Pesach with your families. Please share with us some of the nachas that you felt from the divrei Torah, songs, and Pesach knowledge that your children displayed at home. Before Pesach, I had the opportunity to test many of the students on hilchos Pesach and was amazed by the knowledge of all of the classes.
Over the course of Pesach, I had the opportunity to lecture a number of times on parenting-related topics. These addresses and the follow-up questions and discussions proved to me how fortunate we are to have a school with such individualized classes, a low student-teacher ratio, and a staff and administration who are so dedicated to their students.

This week I had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Ernest Isaacson and his wife, Sara, in New York. Dr. Isaacson spent a full hour reminiscing about the beauty of Providence, the relationships he established, and the profound impact that the school had on his life. Immediately following Pesach, we will be entering into the prime time for Amudim Journal solicitations. The Amudim Dinner is the largest fundraiser of the school and requires your support. Every dollar raised is allocated for financial aid for needy families. A successful campaign empowers the Scholarship Committee to support family requests for financial aid. The school also allows families to allocate 100% of each solicitation toward financial aid, and, in addition, to earn credit on their tuition bill for the 2012-13 school year. Please review these guidelines so that you can maximize the benefit for your family while at the same time supporting the school.
