The students will stand with their posters. Students should be prepared to answer questions, as if they are the person about whom they wrote. Secular Science: Middle School : Sixth Earth Science: Do you walk on plates? The answer might surprise you. Ask your sixth grader about what the earth is really made of, and how and why volcanoes form and earthquakes occur. The students copleted clever inter-active models of sea-floor spreading, using only paper, scissors, and colored markers. 7th/8th Life Science: These young microbiologistsare now experts on bacteria, viruses, and various members of the protist and fungus kingdoms. Many students were shocked to discover how numerous and diverse these organisms are. The Middle School students are also voting for which baby animal they think is the cutest. N.E.A.T. : Biology: The students are busy learning about DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis. They each constructed twelve inch models of the double helix. Chem-Physics: Working in groups, the students researched an amusement park of their choice.Using display boards, handouts, or models, they then presented their "pitch" to lure the First Annual Science Geeks conference to their park. All the groups were excellent, and it was a difficult choice for the Representitive of Scientists to decide. But, in the end, Sir Isaac Newton ruled, and the Dorney Park roller coasters won. Physics: Things have heated up in the lab as students learn about Thermodynamics, do calculations & experiment with different manifestations of Thermal Energy.
Judaic The Fourth Grade is starting a project on the 39 Melachos of Shabbos. They are developing a tangible book that widely displays the “Halachos of the Melachos”. Mazel Tov! The Fifth Grade has completed Parshas Beshalach! They will be celebrating with a Siyum next week, and each student will give a Dvar Torah relating to Parshas Beshalach. On Shabbos Parshas VaYeitzai the middle school boys had a blast! It all began with an inspiring talk from the Providence Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Eliezer Gibber. The boys then had a gala Seudah, with their Rebbeim and families, at the home of Rabbi and Mrs. Taitelbaum. Rabbi Beck's incredible shiur on superstition and a game of four corners at an oneg in the school rounded the evening off nicely. On Shabbos day after davening and a delicious kiddush, the boys enjoyed a banquet, with their Rebbeim and families, in the home of Rabbi and Mrs. Yudkowsky. Then their was Pirchei, a workshop by Rabbi Scheinerman at Shalosh Seudos in the school, and Motzei Shabbos Live. The crowning event of the evening was the visit to the Rhode Island Rock Gym. The boys(and the Rebbeim)really had fun! Rabbi Yud kowsky learned how to belay and Rabbi Taitelbaum helped lift people to higher heights! This was the best Shabbaton yet!
